Well, it has been a long while. Gotta write back. What should I write? Any ideas?
A long overdue post.
Saw this post on a respected website and so I thought it would be pretty good, especially for newbies. 🙂
Feels good writing back 😉
I read an article recently on an interview with Adam Khoo on his success. Adam Khoo, in short, is a successful enterpreneur, running a gamut of business offline and online. He gave a few points about his thoughts on business and life.
The summary of the article are as follows
- There is a way to generate Youtube advertising revenue.
- Even though you are focused on your career and other stuff, do not forget your loved ones, especially family.
- Work can make us spend time away from family, but absence makes the heart grow fonder. But, do not stay away too long though.
- There are various ways to generate money online. The key is to focus on one method until it works, before moving on to another method. Too many things at the same time can lead to greater failure.
I have to agree with all of the above, especially item no 4. Been guilty of it as well.
You can access the full article here.
It is kinda funny that 2016 is nearing its end and this is my first post for the year 🙂
Anyway, hopefully, I will post more stuff especially on online business and related matters.
I am back.
A short post … but I want to stress the power of focus in doing business, online or offline. I have been guilty in the past of the ‘shiny object’ syndrome, where I kept buying/attending the next biggest online thing, only not getting any or little success with it. In the end, it was information overload and nothing was done.
How To Get Focus For Your Biz? Easy.
- Narrow your business scope
- Plan the actions under your business
- Feedback —> Learn and Repeat Step 2
All yours. 🙂
If you are blank of what kind of blog post you want to do to update your blog, I would like to suggest a blog post strategy which is a how did I do or how do you do posts. Inspired by this Problogger post, I thought of how to do something similar for movie review blog, My Romance Movie Review, which has been stagnant since it’s relaunch. Oh, and please do subscribe to Darren’s Problogger. It is amazing and resourceful for all bloggers.
So, I have thought the post format for the blog as per below
Blog Title – Movie Title – *short words*
What I liked About The Movie
Movie Product Icon – Amazon
Here is the result …
What do you think?
I liked John Chow’s suggestion about the use of editorial calendar for blogging purpose.
Below is a video where John Chow talks about it …
“A real business has to keep running and cannot shut down” – John Chow
In then world of Internet Marketing, it is common to go looking for new knowledge or information. Lately, I was thinking why my internet business was going a bit stale. It is definitely not to the lack of knowledge. A look at my hard disk shown me tonnes of IM programs and tools that I have. So, for a few hours I sat in deep thought wondering what is wrong. Then I realized the answer… I was in this situation because of my hunger for knowledge. Yes, my hunger and thirst for knowledge has lead me to not doing well in my internet business.
Yep, my thirst for knowledge lead me to where I am. Allow me to explain. Simply, I was looking for knowledge and information of internet marketing without actually applying the knowledge/information learnt first. So, I kept jumping from knowledge A to ebook B to seminar C .. and the list goes on and on …. in the end, what do I have? yeah, you guessed it .. INFORMATION OVERLOAD!
So I did a bit of research especially from the IM ‘seniors’ to rectify and avoid this problem in the future. There were two major points outlined
1-Don’t Buy Any IM Related Stuff For The Next Few Months
Don’t buy anything else in the IM arena until you have finished reading AND applying what you have in your hard drive. Basically, begin with what you already have/bought. From what I see, a lot of IM stuff (especially WSOs) are recycled stuff that have been published. Go through what you have first, applied it and see the results. Need further info, uncle Google is around …. 🙂
2- Focus on ONE method/technique Until You Succeed
There are so many methods / technique of IM nowadays. From blogging to FB Ads, there are so many options. Do not follow the current. For example, right now FB Ads is the current ‘in’ thing. Do you need to go and buy the latest FB Ads course, while you have a Google Adwords course that you had purchased that you have not yet finished.
Well, I learnt my lesson and shall be applying these lessons to my online business. I would focus on what I have, apply it first, and then proceed. So far, it is working to a certain extent 🙂 and hopefully for the rest of my IM business life.
Just read a post where Matt Cutts, a fellow at Google, does his best disprove rumors regarding how they SEO is done by Google.
The post can be accessed by clicking here.
His four main points, in the post are
1. Paying For Google AdWords = Higher Organic Rankings
2. Google Changes Its Algorithm to Force People to Buy Ads
3. Black Hat Tricks: The Best Way to Rank No. 1
4. SEO Tools Will Solve All Your Problems
For me, item no 4 is the most interesting. Admittedly, most IMers buy/use SEO tools and methods that purportedly enhance SEO. For me, SEO has always been a grey area. For me, your SEO and SEM (Search Engine Marketing) strategy must be smart and makes logical sense ( especially the backlinks). For example, if your site is about sports news, then your backlinks should not come from health related sites. All the google updates, in my opinion, are attempting to keep it logical.
He did not mention it in his post, but he has been a strong proponent that all website masters should use the Google Webmasters tool as part of website management, which I do agree.
Matt is definitely one of the public Google faces when talking about SEO and SEM so I guess his advice should be taken seriously.
I did a review of Google Sniper 2.0 Internet Marketing Program in powerpoint and posted it on Slideshare. Might as well share the presentation here as well.
I have used Google Sniper and have found it to be an effective tool. Of course, with all other programs, you need to put in the work ya 😉
Enjoy the review below.
